RECORDING
Calvin cut his teeth in the recording studio with Eddie Russ and Sonny Stitt, playing congas, drums and percussion on Sonny's 1972 album 'A Brand New Bag' and 'Tornado' in 1974. Other jazz albums recorded in that period include 'Fresh Out' - 1974, Jazz Masters, 'See The Light' - 1976, and 'Take A Look At Yourself' - 1978, Monument, with Eddie Russ. After moving to LA in 1980, Calvin became involved in the Funk scene playing, recording and writing with producers such as Rodney Trotter, Kevin Dorsey, Greg Williams (Switch), Nate Thomas, Jim Mackey and Alan Lindgren (Neil Diamond). In Australia he has recorded drumming and percussion tracks with artists he has toured with including Kevin Borich, SWOOP 'Be What You Is' – 1998, Professor Groove & The Booty Affair 'Live At The Cave' – 1999, Marlene Cummins, Colin Offord, Dale Barlow (1997), Blacksmith Hopkins 'Buried Up To My Neck In Mud' – 1998, Yeshe (2014), Keyim Ba (2016), Michael Wheatley 'Dirty Carpet Disco Band' – 2010, Bek Jensen 'Bek Kimochi' – 2012, The Soul Movers (2016), Sean Mackenzie (2011), Darren Jack and of course Arabesk - 'Arabesk' – 2003, 'Front Ear' – 2006, 'Mr Fi' – 2016, 'Arabesk LIVE at LazyBones Lounge' – 2018. Calvin has also recorded tracks in Australia with international artists such as Louie Shelton (Guitar –1996) and performed on soundtracks for television and film.
